Our to-do lists can be a drag. Check yours--there's probably a task or project you've had on there for weeks you just haven't found the fortitude to cross off yet.
Why not do it today? Been dreading calling that billing department? Or scheduling your next dental checkup? Maybe you've had a YouTube tab open with a 10 minute video you've been meaning to watch, but you haven't had the time?
Do it. Get it done and out of the way. Take pleasure in drawing that checkmark on the page and revel in your quick win. Quick wins are like little jolts of satisfaction that keep you motivated to keep going.
If your task is going to take multiple steps, then it's not a task. That there is a project. Get it off your to-do list and start a fresh page where you can outline the rest of the project for later.
And if you're waiting on someone or something else so you can complete it, move it to a "Someday/Maybe" list so you aren't greeted by it every time you check in.
Your to-do list isn't meant to house tasks for weeks or months at a time. Knock out what you can today so you can get on with your life.
