Xbox LIVE Platform and Titles Possibly Coming to iOS

From Cult of Mac:

A Microsoft spokesperson has revived rumors that its Xbox LIVE platform is coming to iOS after they revealed the company’s plans to provide the Xbox experience and its titles on other platforms. While iOS users already have access to a basic Xbox LIVE app, Microsoft is expected to introduce a more in-depth experience including Xbox LIVE games like that available to Windows Phone users.

This just makes sense. Forget the “Microsoft vs. Apple” debates. Porting Xbox LIVE functionality in any form to another platform can only help Microsoft. As mobile gaming starts eclipsing dedicated consoles, device and software makers need to find the next big avenue for revenues.

Put another way, iOS dominates 2/3 of Google’s mobile search traffic, which means Google’s making more money off iPhones than Android phones. The company would never sever ties with Apple to a point where its search engine wasn’t in play on the iPhone and iPad - that would severely affect its bottom line.

If Microsoft isn’t selling enough WP7 devices to bring in the cash for extra Xbox LIVE content, then the company needs to take that content to the next best distribution platform. Microsoft won’t make any money on Android, but it’ll certainly rake it in by releasing some great titles on iOS.
